Summary/Abstract: The current article examines the representation of gender stereotypes in children’s popular culture, focusing on two famous children’s TV series suitable for the very young (ages 2–5), Paw Patrol and Peppa Pig. The text examines how the characters in these two children’s TV shows are constructed and through what mechanisms are their gender identities conveyed. By providing a context for the concept of gender, the study looks more broadly at the topic in its local specificities, highlighting the place that gender and, respectively, gender identity development occupies among young children and how popular culture might influence this process.
