Summary/Abstract: The book about the philosopher Sintippi or the novel about the seven wise men is one of those works that were read and translated throughout the ancient world. Written in late antique Persia, it nevertheless belongs to Hellenistic literature in a broader sense in form and inspiration. Her translation, via Syriac into Greek, became very popular in Byzantium as part of a corpus that included Aesop's life and a collection of Aesop's fables.
