Summary/Abstract: European judicial cooperation in preventing and combating trafficking in human beings is a central element in the European Union's efforts to tackle one of the most complex and transnational forms of crime. In the context of globalisation and the intensification of migratory flows, trafficking in human beings has become a problem that transcends national borders, affecting not only security and public order, but also the fundamental rights of victims. Close cooperation between Member States is therefore essential for identifying, investigating and punishing trafficking networks. This cooperation is based on a complex legal and institutional framework, which includes directives and decisions at European level, as well as instruments of judicial cooperation, such as the European Extradition Warrant and mutual assistance mechanisms in criminal matters. Specialist institutions such as Europol and Eurojust play a decisive role, facilitating the exchange of information and the coordination of actions between national authorities. In addition, partnerships with non-governmental organisations and international bodies complement efforts to prevent and protect victims, ensuring a multidimensional approach to the problem. Thus, European judicial cooperation in combating trafficking in human beings is not only a necessity due to the cross-border nature of the crime, but also an expression of the common commitment of the Member States to protect human dignity and promote the rule of law. This integrated approach involves a synergy between prevention, investigation and sanctioning, contributing to the strengthening of a resilient European legal system adapted to current challenges.
