Summary/Abstract: Local media in Bosnia and Herzegovina represent an interesting area of analysis, primarily because they are very rarely the subject of research, especially scientific research. A review of the literature on media clearly shows that national media companies are in the focus of almost all academic analyses and research. However, recognizing the importance of local media for the development and functioning of local communities, the author of this paper focuses exclusively on local media policies. With the aim of examining the content in local media, the extent to which journalistic standards are upheld, and how well local media reporting aligns with the public interest, a content analysis was conducted on five local media in Bosnia and Herzegovina: Bljesak.info, Kozarski vjesnik, Medijski servis Tuzla, Radio Sarajevo and RTV of Una-Sana Canton. The purpose of this research is to analyze media content in B&H that has a local character, in order to determine, based on empirical evidence, whether the local media in Bosnia and Herzegovina fulfill their social role.
