President Stanisław Wojciechowski - memory restored. Progress on the grant work dedicated to the patron of the Kalisz University and his times. A report on the implementation of the grant for the year 2024

Summary/Abstract: The article presents the results of the first year of the research project “President Stanisław Wojciechowski. His Era, Achievements, Memory”, conducted by the Institute of Interdisciplinary Historical Research at the University of Kalisz as part of the “Science for Society II” program. The project aims to comprehensively develop the biography of the second president of the Second Polish Republic (II RP) and analyze his political, social, and academic contributions. In 2024, the research team conducted archival and library queries, gathering over 500 bibliographic entries. A total of 14 scholarly and popular science articles were prepared. Additionally, an outdoor historical exhibition dedicated to Wojciechowski was organized, along with a scientific conference focused on the political environments of the 19th century and their impact on the restoration of the Polish state. Extensive public engagement activities were also undertaken, including the creation of a dedicated online platform for the project, a conference website, and live-streamed lectures on YouTube and Facebook. The article further emphasizes the importance of iconographic, filmographic, and archival document analysis, which enables a reconstruction of both Wojciechowski’s activities and the reception of his legacy over the decades. In the coming years, the project will focus on further archival research, the publication of the compiled bibliography, and the preparation of materials for planned monographs.
