Summary/Abstract: The paper attempts to analyse Hubert Fichte's concept of spirituality as it is reflected in his creative nonfiction books about Afro-American syncretic religions. Critical approaches have focused mainly on Fichte's innovative prose style and on his critique of the Eurocentric stance adopted by classical ethnological research as well as on his engagement with subordinate cultures and identities.
