Complaint for revocation of an arbitral award in the interwar period in the light of the archival records of the complex of the District Court in Tarnów

Summary/Abstract: The article aims to indicate how, in the light of the files of District Court in Tarnówcollected in the National Archive in Cracow Branch in Tarnów, one of the institutions ofarbitration law – a complaint against an arbitral award – was shaped in the interwar period.The thesis of the work assumes that this institution played an important role in the practiceof arbitration courts, since it was the primary legal instrument for the annulment of an ar-bitral award by a state court. At the same time, on the basis of the surviving materials, it canbe concluded that these complaints were rarely taken into account by state courts, whichmay prove that the judgments of the arbitration courts were drafted and issued at a highlevel. Analyzing complaints against arbitration awards, it is also possible to observe, whatwas raised as a plea, and how the arbitration courts functioned, what was the subject ofarbitration disputes, who served as arbitrators, and who were the parties to these disputes.
