Bibliometric Analysis of Articles on Central Asia

Summary/Abstract: This article aims to analyze the relationships between Central Asian studies written in political science and international relations that are indexed in Web of Science based on author, country, keywords, and abstracts. In this framework, 1,082 studies were bibliometrically analyzed. The first result of the study is that there has been an increase in the number of articles written in Central Asia after 1990. On the other hand, most authors researching on Central Asia live in the USA. In the analyzed articles, Central Asia was associated with Russia 33 times, China 25 times, geopolitics 12 times, and terrorism 10 times. After 2017, in the studies conducted within the framework of Russia, China, India, and Japan's Central Asia policies, concepts such as Eurasia, civil society, regional security, strategic partnership, Belt and Road Initiative, alliance, Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and hegemony were brought to the agenda.
