Summary/Abstract: The article examines the issue of customary gifts on the occasion of marriage, examined from the perspective of legal anthropology and its normative-historical development. The structure of the presentation is divided in two parts, the first examines the gift as an act – an institution of Bulgarian common law and as a cultural and anthropological universal, the second – today’s, post-socialist regulations, visible and observable through the legal regulations on the topic (and its amendments) and judicial practice, which reflects the current understanding of gifts on the occasion of marriage in the specified context.
