Summary/Abstract: Ana Blandiana is one of the most prominent intellectual figures of both communist and post-communist Romanian landscapes. One of her latest books, 'Soră lume', consists of a collection of memories centred around the motif of travelling, detached from its mere consumerist perception of a checklist. The aim of the present paper is to map the main symbols related to the act of travelling and to analyse their social, moral, political, and esthetical charge, as well as the echoes with Ana Blandiana’s previous volumes. Seen as sites of memory, the places Blandiana visits represent milestones in her life, as the journey is always associated with a revelation or an attempted manipulation.
