Summary/Abstract: The aim of this article is to introduce readers to a forgotten didactic novel by the Łódź-based writer, educator, and social activist Ludwik Stolarzewicz, titled Youth! Heir to All (1933). Stolarzewicz is better known to a wider audience as the author of the first comprehensive study of Łódź literature – The Literature of Łódź Throughout Its Existence (1935). This particular novel has remained largely unknown, as Stolarzewicz often wrote under various pseudonyms, including Adam Galiński and Ludwik Rozłucki.Ludwik Stolarzewicz’s novel portrays the lives of a group of friends, high school seniors, set against the backdrop of Łódź in the 1930s. The author illustrates the division of the city into male and female spaces (primarily designated by school settings) and into rich and poor zones, a contrast already established in earlier Łódź literature. He also describes shared spaces, such as Piotrkowska Street and Poniatowski Park. The article highlights the inconsistencies in narrative style within the novel. Stolarzewicz employs both third-person narration (predominantly) and first-person narration, which may indicate that he prioritized the novel’s didactic value over its literary quality.
