BALKAN JE U MODI
THE BALKANS ARE IN VOGUE

Summary/Abstract: In this paper I show some examples of stereotypes, both from within and from without, about the Balkans, as a geographical and cultural region, to be convergent in the sense that even “positive” stereotypes, being focused on the exotic, or “special” properties, reinforce general negative stereotyping of the Balkans, as a dense, dark, incomprehensible forest, “the heart of darkness”, the evil twin of Europe.
