Summary/Abstract: In 1844, a ‘Bulgarian Primer’, composed by Georgi Busilin (1820-1845) appeared in Moscow. This is the only literary work of this Bulgarian of the national Revival period, who died young, and whose services to Bulgarian literature and folklore have been insufficiently studied. The ‘Bulgarian Primer’ contains folklore material – fables and folk-songs. The eight folk-songs are purposefully chosen, thematically and emotionally united by a longing for the homeland, the home and family. As a whole they contribute to the national intonation and educational impact of one of the first and the best Bulgarian textbooks published in the National Revival period .
