Summary/Abstract: Theories are very important in the interpretation and understanding of events in the discipline of international relations. In this sense, especially mainstream theories such as idealism and realism have a very wide place in the discipline. Their most important feature is their emphasis on human nature and their efforts to explain international relations through it. The book Lord of the Flies by William GOLDING, which tells the story of a group of children who fall on a deserted island and is normally considered as a children's book, can be described as a very important work for both political philosophy and the discipline of international relations when read and analysed in the axis of the theories mentioned. In this study, the assumptions of the theories of Idealism and Realism will be emphasised and these assumptions will be exemplified and studied through the book.
