Summary/Abstract: Gördes, which is today a district of Manisa province, was a district of Saruhan Sanjak during the Ottoman period. Gördes, which had a very small non-Muslim population, had an important place especially in the field of carpet weaving. It is seen that Gördes was not much affected by these changes in the 19th century, when significant changes were seen in the Ottoman demographic structure. In this study, the population records of the district in the 19th century will be examined. It is important to address the accident population over the course of a century. Because today, Gördes displays a very stable appearance in terms of population mobility. However, there are traces in the records of the 19th century that, although it was not a cosmopolitan place, it contained more intense activity than today. With these aspects, the study has the potential to attract the attention of those who study historical demography and human geography.
