Summary/Abstract: The most important factor that creates the structure of the comic book in the context of the scenario is the imagination of the illustrator. One of the factor that supports imagination is monitoring the outside world. Therefore, the places seen or observed by the illustrator constitute the scenario and setting of the comic book. Creating locations in comics is easier than in other branches of art. Because a piece of paper and a pen are enough to take the illustrator and the reader to other lands. In this context, comic books from ancient times, when intercontinental travel was few or costly, took on a cultural role. Therefore, thanks to comic books, readers can experience life in a place, even if only roughly. In the context of supporting and revealing these ideas, the article first focuses on general culture and visual literacy. Then, examples selected from the comic book classics of the 20th century were presented, and in the conclusion, the contribution of geographical descriptions in comics to general culture has to be evaluated.
