Summary/Abstract: Technological advancements have significantly influenced labour markets, a trend that has intensified since the Industrial Revolution. This study examines the impact of technological developments on employment in G-20 countries between 1996 and 2021. Using annual data, a panel regression model is employed to assess this relationship. In the model, the employment-topopulation ratio is the dependent variable, while R&D expenditures represent technological development as the primary independent variable. Additionally, the model incorporates control variables, including the growth rate of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and the number of patent applications (both domestic and foreign). The empirical findings reveal that R&D expenditures have a positive and statistically significant impact on employment, whereas the number of patent applications exerts a negative and significant effect. Moreover, GDP growth is found to positively and significantly influence employment levels.
