Summary/Abstract: In this paper alarming biomedical, ethical and social effects of the imbalance between man and nature, with the clear tendency of deepening the ecological crisis on our planet are pointed out. The reason for such change is the direct impact of disproportionate technological development of mankind, the interests of multinational companies, and the economies of most developed countries of the world on the global ecological system. Medical ecology is now an interdisciplinary scientific field, where not only physicians and other biomedical experts have found their place, but also lawyers, economists, sociologists, psychologists, physicists, engineers, and computer scientists. Only through the synergy of ecological, socioeconomic, and psychosocial activities can a permanent solution for the imbalance between man and nature be found. International institutions, each in its own domain of responsibility, must take specific measures in order to address the global environmental crisis and to establish new ways of ecological cooperation between developed and developing countries.
