Summary/Abstract: Harmonizing Legislation with the Acquis Communautaire is one of Bosnia and Herzegovina's top priorities in the process of accession to the European Union. This task entails aligning legislation, particularly in terms of consumer protection. The Law on Consumer Protection from 2006 is currently being applied, and the Preliminary Draft of the new Law on Consumer Protection of BiH, in which the new "consumer" directives of the EU have been transposed, to the appropriate extent, has, unfortunately, still not passed the parliamentary procedure of adoption. The existing regulatory framework in Bosnia and Herzegovina is not sufficient to be considered effective in addressing this issue. The European Union has emphasized alternative dispute resolution (ADR) mechanisms, aiming for cost-effectiveness, while these mechanisms have not yet fully matured in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
