Summary/Abstract: A miserable time, such as ours, demands a radical proposition. Radical anthropology meets such urgent demand. The idea of a radical man is not easily accepted for two reasons. First, because we used to treat radicalism as the simple opposite of rationality, and second, because we identify rationality with order. Rationality means – taking a calculated risk in difficult situations, being ready to make deep changes to our world view in a time of crisis. Radicalism does not have anything to do with extremism. In Latin, radix means a root. So, a radical man has to be a man deeply rooted in his world, deeply participating in its creation. Unfortunately, traditional anthropology builds quite a different concept of man: not homo creator but homo obedient. The paper has many layers: anthropological, theoretical and political. It provokes and encourages one to rethink a concept of man in a radically new way.
