Summary/Abstract: As the world faces the challenges of increasing urbanization, the concept of smart cities has become crucial for improving the quality of life for residents, enhancing the efficiency of urban systems, and promoting sustainability. In this context, the Internet of Things (IoT) has emerged as a technological framework that significantly influences the evolution of smart cities, providing infrastructure with the ability to connect, communicate, and analyze data in realtime.IoT represents a key factor in the transformation process, reshaping the urban environment and providing new opportunities for improvement in efficiency, security, and sustainability. Smart cities leverage IoT technology to integrate and connect different urban systems through a network of devices and sensors. Through the implementation of IoT in sectors such as transportation, energy, security, and municipal services, cities become smarter in monitoring, analyzing, and managing their resources. Improved mobility, efficient energy usage, enhanced security, and citizen engagement are just some of the benefits that IoT brings to the development of smart cities. IoT plays a crucial role in shaping the future of urban environments, but it is essential to balance the benefits with appropriate management of challenges to achieve sustainable and intelligent urban development.
