Summary/Abstract: The aim of this study is to propose a comparative analysis of idioms about fear in Portuguese and Romanian. This topic is characterized by some new elements: the comparative approach to Portuguese and Romanian idioms, the analysis of idioms with greater expressiveness and the semantic approach, an essential aspect since semantic unity is the main characteristic of idioms. As a result, we present a classification of the sample of idioms and an analysis of possible translation equivalences, based on various dictionaries.
