Fugit Irreparabile Tempus in Ion Pillat’s Poetry

Summary/Abstract: The present paper aims at giving a brief insight into Ion Pillat`s poetry from the point of view of fugit irreparabile tempus topic, as it is revealed by figures of speech, mainly by metaphors. They are analysed both from the cognitive stylistics point of view and from the traditional stylistics one. Mention should be made of the fact that the analysed metaphors have been selected from all stages of creation. The first part of the paper is a general presentation of Ion Pillat`s poetry, the second part focuses on identifying cognitive metaphors as well as on their cognitive analysis by describing the metaphoric mapping, whereas the third part focuses on identifying the linguistic metaphors and on their traditional analysis by describing the metaphoric mechanism. The fourth part of the paper gathers the conclusions, bringing together the main ideas.
