Summary/Abstract: The text will discuss the transformations encountered in literature, as an aspect of alchemical studies. Starting with Ovid’s Metamorphoses, the theme of transformation appears in both Macedonian and world folklore. Key to the Macedonian folk literary tradition is that transformation most often occurs due to a curse or out of great love longing or an act of mercy. It is important to mention that in Marko Cepenkov’s story about Siljan the Stork, in addition to the fact that alchemical moments can be found with the magical potion of the water of immortality, the myth of the transformation of man into a bird is also reflected, as a distant echo of a cycle of ancient ornitogony’s poems.
