Summary/Abstract: Observing the dance tradition in a contemporary context, I came up with the idea to analyze selected examples of prom celebrations in Macedonia. In the past few years, on social networks, the videos from mentioned celebrations where young people proudly play some of the famous Macedonian folk dances have been quite popular. The performance of the dance at these celebrations by high school graduates is a really interesting phenomenon that deserves proper attention and analysis. In the text, the most attention is dedicated to: the space and place for dancing in a contemporary context, the stylistic figures of the dances, the repertoire, the performance of the dance, and the dance being accompanied by instruments, as well as the social context during the performance of the dance. Recently, one gets the impression that the practice of the dance tradition is slowly returning to graduation celebrations in Macedonia. It is also important to emphasize the need to dance and preserve what is local and indigenous. It is positive that nurturing the dance tradition in a contemporary context is being applied, especially in today’s modern society where foreign, western influences are increasingly being accepted and affecting all segments of all people’s lives. The fact that the dance tradition is engraved in the memory of the high school graduates is very positive and also it remains as a cultural heritage that should be maintained and practiced by future generations.
