Relatives, friends and neighbors as a shared theme in the sayings from the city of Strumica and Strumica Region

Summary/Abstract: The paper explored the wise sayings gathered in the city of Strumica and Strumica Region that had the mutual theme of relatives, friends and neighbours and their relations to one another. Folklore reflects what a community thinks and believes. All events, in one way or another, in one form or another, find their reflection in folklore. Folk proverbs, sayings and utterances are a valuable source for observing past and present interhuman relationships. They persist, adapt and transform but are always present and we can always derive wisdom from the message they convey.
