The interlocutor and the past and future challenges and opportunities of the collector of folk goods

Summary/Abstract: The paper was about collecting folklore and field work and exploring folklore materials. In the last decades of the last, and first decades of the 21st century, the world has faced major social, economic, cultural and political changes. These changes affect science, as well as folklore and ethnology. The influence from the West feels strong and impacts the usual way of life, but also folklore, rites and customs which undergo serious transformations, and in some spheres, they even disappear. Both in empirical disciplines as well as in folklore, this highlights the need to collect and to preserve traditional folklore and to gather and study what is new. In this way, the new will be treated as a manifestation of the spirit of an era.
