Summary/Abstract: The aim of this article is to provide a preliminary reconstruction ofTomáš Halík’s thoughts on hope, with the intention of applying themin pedagogical work to help individuals to cultivate and strengthenhope. The analysis focuses on hope “for all,” regardless of religiosityor lack thereof. This corresponds with both the pedagogical natureof the text and Halík’s approach, as he considered the issue of thehope of non-believers to be of particular interest. The article iden-tifies different approaches to understanding hope and, by referringto the research findings from various authors, argues for its subjectiveand social significance. It also highlights its dynamic nature, whichdemonstrates that hope can be “learned.” The choice of Tomáš Halíkas a teacher of hope is justified in two ways. First, the article presentsa broad understanding of what it means to be a teacher, consideringthree perspectives: interactional, institutional, and cultural. Second, several aspects of Halík’s life are recalled as manifestations of hisrole as both a witness to hope and, consequently, a teacher of it. Thearticle then outlines Halík’s thoughts on hope, relating them to peda-gogical practice and the teaching of hope.
