Summary/Abstract: The Prussian tribute of 1569 took place in Lublin, where the Prince of Prussia, Albrecht Frie-drich, paid tribute to the King of Poland, Sigismund Augustus. In the Königsberg context, theaccount of the tribute provides details of the event, emphasizing not only the ceremonial natureof the act, but also its political significance. In 1569, the tribute was a symbolic step towardcloser ties between Poland and Prussia. The subject of this article is the text of the 1569 tribute, published in 1810. Its publication is supported by the brevity of its description. The accountdescribes the tribute of 1569 and was essentially unknown in Polish historiography. It is truethat Ksawery Liske (1838–1891), a distinguished Polish historian, published a translation of thistext into Polish in the newspaper “ Wiadomości Poznańska” in 1868, but without commentaryor footnotes.
