Summary/Abstract: The most important academic event of the year was the Kant Congress in Bonn. It was originally intended to associate the great thinker with the place of his birth, activity, and passing—Königsberg/Kaliningrad; but the war disrupted the organizers' intentions, and the Kant Society (Kant-Gesellschaft) had to find another location significant for both German and universal culture.
