Summary/Abstract: The article aims to deconstruct the concept of authenticity, revealing its internal contradictions, and to assess its influence on the contemporary religious field. Drawing on the contributions of Charles Taylor and Gilles Lipovetsky to critically reconsider the ideal of authenticity, the study supplements their views with a second theoretical dimension based on a contextual analysis of various popular uses of the concept. Subsequently, the text offers a perspective for understanding the outlined problem, primarily within a traditional religious framework, and then, through the analysis of two cases, traces its transformations in present time. Tensions between tradition and innovation, collectivism and individualism, arising from the fundamental divergence in criteria for authenticity, are identified, along with their implications for the relationship between man and the transcendent.
