Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to explain how P2P insurance is used in various business models and identify importance of selected motives behind participation in such schemes. In the initial stage of the research three P2P insurance business models were identified, i.e. the self-governing also called the self-organizing model, the intermediary also called the broker model and the carrier also called insurer model. The following hypotheses were verified: H1 – there are differences in the importance of economic motives for users of various P2P insurance models; H2 – there are differences in impor- tance of social motives for users of various P2P insurance models; H3 – there are differences in impor- tance of motives linked to perceived usefulness for users of various P2P insurances models. The paper presents the results of the own empirical survey.
