Summary/Abstract: The performing arts, and theatre in particular, are facing the great challenge of the modern world - the penetration of technology into the process and the vast possibilities of expressive means. The big screen productions of cinema are also becoming a major competitor to the theatre stage. What reduces concerns is the joint interaction and active exchange of ideas between theatre and cinema. Is it possible to use technology in such a way that it does not rob the artistic value of living performing art?, does not deprive the audience of primary emotion?, preserves direct emotional influence and empathy? A process in which the interaction between screen and stage is preserved. It is possible and to some extent should be the goal of contemporary theatre. This can also be a key to recreating classic titles and interpreting on stage what are defined as eternal questions of man and reaching the emotional frequencies of the modern audience. Jamie Lloyd's directorial work in the latest stage titles finds exactly such an approach. How did the National Theatre London, Broadway and the West End become a leading modern stage and can we define Jamie Lloyd as the conductor of this stage?
