Summary/Abstract: Centenary edition Kyra Kyralina is a new attempt by Istros Publishing House of the Braila Museum “Carol I” to overcome the ongoing controversy of Panait Istrati's belonging to one of the two cultural spaces: Romanian or French. Between two critical landmarks, of Romain Rolland and Eugen Simion, prefaced by Zamfir Balan and with a rich critical apparatus in the end, the new bilingual volume offers for reading the two versions, French and Romanian, which allow understanding how Panait Istrati, the “born storyteller”, thought, felt and created his opera.
