Summary/Abstract: The subject of the publication is the personality of the new Bulgarian Patriarch Daniil, elected by the Bulgarian Orthodox Church - Bulgarian Patriarchate on June 30, 2024. The attention is directed to three main aspects: the preparation of the patriarchal election, according to the Statute of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church; the very election of Patriarch Daniil; public attitudes towards it; and the positions of Patriarch Daniil towards the Russian-Ukrainian conflict and the newly established Orthodox Church of Ukraine, expressed by him even as Metropolitan of Vidin.
