THE TRANSCENDENCE OF ANTON HOLBAN’S WORK – BETWEEN BIOGRAPHY AND FICTION. THE CASE OF SANDU – THE INTROVERT TYPE

Summary/Abstract: The present study focuses on an in-depth analysis of Anton Holban’s biography and its metamorphosis into the fictional universe of his literary works. The approach will be mainly deductive, as we endeavour to start our investigation by interpreting the author’s own perception on literature, which is seen as a means to express authenticity (“For me literature is not something difficult, I only transcribe myself”). The present research is based on a multifaceted analysis, as we endeavour to approach Holban’s novels from a triple perspective, more precisely from a biographical, fictional and psychological point of view. The methodology of the present study derives from different fields of study, including literary theory, psychology, and semantics. The corpus of the study contains excerpts from Anton Holban’s novels.
