Summary/Abstract: Th e pressure of current problems, such as migration, local confl icts and wars, arms race, debt, economicgrowth combined with mass consumption — obscure the main challenge for politicians. Th is is, fi rstly,replacing national particularisms with a planetary perspective. And secondly, a slowdown in economicgrowth (as measured by GDP). Th is is an analogous path that the mosaic of post-feudal societies previouslyfollowed in the second half of the 19th century — professional, class, regional, and national awareness mustbe enriched with integration at the level of counteracting the planetary crisis. Without overcoming national-ism, with its xenophobia, worship of mystifi ed traditions, as well as eliminating development disproportionsbetween regions of the world, the security of civilization will not be possible.
