Summary/Abstract: The article demonstrates the scientific relevance of church sources for the study of personal and material losses in the Kielce region during World War II. There is no doubt that the documents discussed represent excellent historical value. They are particularly important for determining the volume of war damage from 1944–1945 (houses, churches, farms), especially since the above issues have been absent from the studies of state institutions. They also facilitate an analysis of the occupation terror, its dynamics and fluctuation in the various deaneries (parts) of the diocese. Nevertheless, ecclesiastical sources, like any other, need to be confronted with available secular sources to establish definitive data.
