Aspects from the past of the old schools in the villages of the middle course of the Bistrița valley

Summary/Abstract: This article presents some aspects of the evolution of the old schools in the villages of the middle course of the Bistrița Valley. This evolution had to take into account the historical, legal and administrative context. The legislation adopted in the 19th century had a particular influence on education, starting with the organic regulation, but especially the Așezământul pentru la Reorganizare Învățăturilor Publice în Principatul Moldovei of 1851 and the Law on Instruction of the United Romanian Principalities of 1864. An important role was also played by the legal regime of property ownership in this area, through the secularization of monastic estates and the Agrarian Reform, as well as the establishment of the Crown Domain in 1884.
