Summary/Abstract: The aggression unleashed by the Germans in Western Europe stirred the Romanian public opinion and all the Romanian political circles. The Romanian media, in line with the neutrality principles, published, during that time, statements from each belligerent side, managing to present for and against points of view concerning the German action. Trying to maintain its neutrality, until the fall of the Netherlands, Belgium and France, Romania, whose safety was founded on the traditional alliance with France and Great Britain, stayed aloof from the conflict. This fact will determine, later on, changes in the orientation of the foreign policy of Romania. At one point of time, the media, having supported the Allied Forces so far, announced a “change of front in the Romanian policy” and an “open orientation towards Germany”.
