Summary/Abstract: This contribution aims to explore how the linguistic biographies of Arabic speaking students influence their perceptions of France, the French language, and its culture within an educational framework. Considering the learner as an individual with representations requires an awareness of their linguistic biography within their micro-community. We will focus specifically on the Arabic-speaking students at Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi and the impact of their backgrounds on the construction of their linguistic and cultural representations. After an introduction to this concept and a sociolinguistic overview of the Emirates, we will present a detailed analysis of a questionnaire aimed at identifying the sources of these representations. By employing a mixed methodology that combines the study of linguistic biographies and word association tests (Zarate), this article will shed light on the influence of the educational and sociocultural environment on the formation of these representations.
