Summary/Abstract: Rapid changes in the field of information technologies, growing production and consumption forced by economic growth lead to growth of waste causing the new challenges to waste management. All these fields are widely analyzed by scientists as separate scientific, technological, environmental or economic problems as well as integrated questions. Waste management is analyzed comprehensively and systematically as well as individual questions of waste generation, waste forecasting, waste storage, and other questions. The information technologies (information systems) are engaged in different stages of waste management. One of such fields – is waste forecasting of waste generation. This paper aims to identify the factors influencing waste composition and amounts, which should be integrated into the design of waste management information system. Thus, the information and communication technologies, current waste management systems, waste quantity forecasting models are analyzed, economic, social and demographic factors influencing waste composition are evaluated. The methods used are: a systematic literature analysis, comparison, correlation regression analysis.
