Summary/Abstract: The ideas in Bach‘s music have universal, philosophical significance and are expressed in a way that does not leave room for individual personal feelings. The composer‘s outlook on life is determined by the idea of the supra-personal, the objective and the extra-temporal. His faith in God is true, genuine and deep. His music is a unique manner to express it and this is beyond all doubt. This position has its proof and we find it in the document “Specificatio” (from ‘Bach-Archiv Leipzig’) of Bach’s personal theological library. We find there a rare and not widespread information of nearly one hundred books on his home shelves, treating the religious and spiritual subjects with composer’s own remarks on some pages. Among them we find the famous ’Abraham Calov’s Bible’, Johann Müller’s ‘Judaism’, Johann Olearius‘– ‚Bible Interpretation’ etc. Reading that one hardly could have doubts about Bach’s pure striving to touch the Christianity faith roots, about his deep devotion to serve God.
