Summary/Abstract: Human rights are the product of human civilization, as they are historical and thus subject to change. Although universalist in essence, they evolve in response to social needs. The global human rights regime is grounded in fundamentallegal documents; however, in practice, the protection of these rights has long been entrusted to the goodwill of individual nation-states. Therefore, human rights are a continuously expanding historical construct: progressing from individual rights to collective rights, from survival rights to socio-economic rights, ultimately reaching new dimensions of rights.
