Summary/Abstract: The present article is a stylistic study of the isotopy inherent in madness, notably in Jean Giraudoux's play La Folle de Chaillot. Several aspects of functional analysis will be examined, including actualization, determination, characterization, intra-syntagmatic order, supra-syntagmatic order, argumentation, and figurative language in both its microstructural and macrostructural dimensions. The aim is to substantiate madness conveyed through metonymic marking. Primarily, it is conveyed through the portrayal of an eccentric madman, unable to adjust his replies to those of his interlocutors, incapable of detaching himself from memories of the past to avoid reality and its harsh truths.
