Problems of Democratic Transformation in Serbia

Summary/Abstract: This paper analyzes the process of democratization of Serbian society, which is based on individualization. Determining essential features of democratic societies resulted in the conclusion that the process of individualization is of crucial importance; it can be defined as meaningful maturation of the individual as a social entity, whose freedom is guaranteed with the institution of law. After a short insight into the variety of issues in developed Western countries and the process of democratization in Serbia, the author gives an analysis of the potentials and obstacles to the opportunities that opened up after October 5 events.
