Summary/Abstract: The weekly “Ziemia i Morze,” published in Szczecin from 1956 to 1957, remains a regional phenomenon. It was also part of the larger “thaw” press movement, which set the tone for the changes concluding the Stalinist period in Poland. In 1956, the magazine established contact with the Paris-based monthly “Kultura,” the most influential title in Polish émigré press after World War II. This resulted in publications in both titles, as well as an exchange of correspondence between the editors-in-chief of both magazines. The text reviews and analyses the relationship between the Szczecin and Parisian editorial offices during the “thaw” period, aiming to determine the nature of their mutual perception, the form of their cooperation, and whether these contacts were exceptional on a national scale. The source base for the text includes archival documents, press publications, and correspondence between the journalists of “Ziemia i Morze” and Jerzy Giedroyc.
