Summary/Abstract: The paper provides the theoretical framework for the questionnaire on attitudes towards the counterproductive work behaviors. In essence, it assumes the existence of the psychological mechanism consisting in the self-justification of dishonest behaviors. In the first part, neutralization techniques (D. Matza and G. M. Sykes) are contrasted with those applied to alleviate the cognitive dissonance (J. Tsang). Next, the author proposes his own terms to describe the self-justification mechanisms defined by the two abovementioned theoretical concepts. These new terms deal, to a somewhat greater degree of precision, with the aspect being subject to manipulation in the process in question: the relation between the individuals and their behaviors, on the one hand, and the outcomes of such behaviors, including any possible victims thereof, on the other. The development of the relevant questionnaire may help fill in the gap in the repertoire of psychological questionnaires available in Poland and bring new opportunities for further research in the area of psychology of work and organization in local settings. In future, the questionnaire could also serve as a tool for the assessment of the risk of counterproductive behavior among work applicants.
