Summary/Abstract: The article examines how Jewish childhood, particularly when shaped by the Holocaust, serves as a foundation that unravels individual identity under historical trauma. It explores the lives of characters like Franz-Georg and Itsik, whose early experiences of loss, separation, and dislocation highlight the struggles to preserve personal and cultural identity amidst Nazi oppression. Through the analysis of the three novels previously mentioned – W ou le souvenir d’enfance by Georges Perec, Itzic by Pascale Rose, and Magnus by Sylvie Germain – the article demonstrates how Jewish childhood, deeply rooted in community and tradition, faces disintegration due to war, leading to lasting impacts on identity, memory, and humanity.
