Summary/Abstract: Czech traveller and writer Anna Řeháková (1850–1937) consecrated a considerable part of her work to Slovenia. She repeatedly travelled most of all to nowadays Austrian Carithia and Upper Carniola, where she dedicated herself to her prefered alpinist sport as its pioneer and propagator, but she vividly reflected national, social, and cultural situation in the region as well. To Carinthian and Carniolian Alpine areas she dedicated not only several travelogue books, but also a few fictional books. She was one of the main personalities that were creating the image of Slovenia in Czech cultural milieu during the 1880s and 1890s. In this study we would like to reconstruct main characteristics of this image.
